Style Girlfriend: Week in Review
Whaddaweek! My sister got into town last night, and I made cupcakes and we ate nachos and on Wednesday I went ice skating, and…and I could go on but I’m starting to sound like Buddy the Elf and, well, that kind of enthusiasm just doesn’t become me.
It was also a great and busy week over at Style Girlfriend. I was invited to guest post on a few different sites, and as it turns out, when you get out of your own bubble and into the world, even a little, you end up meeting some interesting, new people - or maybe more appropriately in this case, they meet you. That sounds kind of similar to the advice my mom gives me about staying home on Friday nights and watching a movie on my couch then falling asleep at ten instead of going out and meeting young people my age in social situations, but I’m going to refuse to recognize the parallels.
This week, on Style Girlfriend:
- A reader who inherited some vests from his dad needed some help figuring out how to wear them
- On Guyism, I pointed out why, yes, sorry, you really do need a suit
- Over on Real Men, Real Style (which is just about the macho-est, chew on beef jerky while sporting a pocket square-sounding name for a site ever and I totally love it), I rattled off the seven things women first notice when they meet a man
- I shared a Super Bowl style tip - for women (!!) - with The Fashion Spot
- A new shopping service gets a look from SG (and SG readers get a 15% discount on the service)
- I pointed out the importance of textures, using an unsuspecting leather-clad man I saw on the subway as an example…of what not to do
